The Crystal Chords Chorus was founded in the early 1990s and continues to be a thriving 35-member women's a cappella chorus today.
In 1994, the chorus became a chartered chapter of Harmony, Inc., an international organization whose mission is, "Empowering all women through singing, education, and friendship." Many of the Crystal Chords charter members remain active members today.
Bill McKay directed the chorus from its inception until his retirement in 2020. Chris Dunbar took the directorship from 2020 until 2023, and Donna McKay has served as the director since January 2024.
Crystal Chords competes twice yearly at Harmony, Inc.'s Area and International contests. The chorus has also performed at countless community events, including the CMOG Holiday Open House, Sparkle of Christmas, Holly Days, Elmira Pioneers, Rotary events, farmer's markets, church services, and countless private gatherings. Every December the chorus hosts a Holiday Concert, and all proceeds benefit the Food Bank of the Southern Tier.
