Donna McKay is the Crystal Chords interim director. She began her musical journey as a child when she learned to play piano. Over the years, her love of music expanded to woodwind instruments and singing in every choir and a cappella group she could find. She started singing barbershop harmony in the early 1980s when she joined her first barbershop quartet. In the early 1990s, Donna, along with husband Bill and friend Anne, founded Crystal Chords. Bill served as the chapter’s musical director until his retirement in 2020. This year, Crystal Chords celebrates 30 years as a chartered chapter of Harmony, Incorporated! Throughout the years, Donna held many positions in the chorus, including assistant director, co-director, section leader, chapter president, and many other board and committee positions.

Throughout her 40+ years in barbershop, Donna has enjoyed singing with many quartets, three of which achieved championship status in Harmony, Inc. Her current quartet, Vivàce, achieved top 10 international quartet status in 2023 and  is the 2024 Area 3 second place quartet.

Donna is retired but keeps busy serving on the Harmony, Inc. International Board of Directors. Since 2015, she has served in many capacities, including International President from 2018-2020. She is currently serving on the board as Executive Vice-President.
